Sonoma County Celebrates Earth Day

Earth Day is what inspires our April issue because this annual celebration is not only about bringing attention to what keeps us alive and vital, it’s also an opportunity for people to gather to care for our planet.

All across Sonoma County people are learning about what we are doing right and wrong in taking care of our earth – and also cleaning up messes we make the rest of the year.

Sonoma County Earth Day Issue

This month we have an Earth Day Calendar with as many events as we have learned about before press time. Please keep in touch on our web site and Facebook page. As we learn more, we will post additional events.

One of our lead stories is about the acquisition of Jenner Headlands. In the 60s this land was clear-cut for timber and just about every living thing was destroyed by a technique called Slash and burn. It’s the opposite of the hundreds of years of careful tending the land had enjoyed under the care of native tribes.
